A REIT with a Difference
Rayonier's unique mix and diversity of core businesses provides opportunities for short- and long-term growth, while offering stability of earnings and cash flow over the economic cycle. In addition, our tax-efficient structure as a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) helps us provide superior returns to shareholders.
As a REIT, income from the sale of timber is generally not taxed at the corporate level, allowing us to distribute significantly more cash directly to investors in the form of a tax-efficient dividend.
Unlike most REITs, the taxable portion of Rayonier's dividend is generally treated as a long-term capital gain with a maximum rate, under current law, of 15 percent.
